Job Description:
- Manage the portfolio of sheet metal, plastics, and proprietary suppliers. Responsible for end-to-end quality of parts manufactured by suppliers to Volvo user plants globally.Early involvement in supplier selection, participating in the segment strategy, and evaluating potential suppliers with the QDCFTSR using Volvo Specific tools (RTS, SRET, Sourcing case risk mitigation, Benchmark evaluation etc…)
- Understanding the Product fitment and functionality and lead the RTS on the manufacturing / technical feasibility and process design reviews with Suppliers
Ensure APQP is performed and proceeding in accordance to required project timing and the risks are addressed with mitigation plan
Verify and lead APQP deliverables including Process Audits, Part Handling Reviews, P-FMEA, D-FMEA, Control Plan development, packaging issues and other APQP elements as required
Verify PPAP submissions are accurate and represent acceptable production ready product per design intent and approve the PPAP and tooling
Lead the Capacity assessment with suppliers to map the production capacity. - Work towards cycle time balancing and capacity enhancement activities to ensure the risks are mitigated. Secure the ramp up plan and implement Firewall / Pre-launch controls to ensure smooth SOP
- Drive the Quality concerns raised from the Volvo plant / Field with quick containment and deep dive on the root cause to narrow down with why-why analysis & secure the corrective actions
Verify investigation findings and - corrective actions for quality issues to ensure suppliers are performing credible and logical root cause analysis and implement robust permanent / preventive corrections
- Scout for new technologies and suppliers in the market within the respective commodities
- Contribute towards transformation activities on sustainability and digitalization within SQ&D
Lead LPS activities for suppliers with poor performance as per the LPS process - Drive continuous improvement and VA/VE projects with suppliers to improve efficiency and optimize costs
